Ryedale Young Farmers
IT has been an exciting and busy year for the Ryedale Young Farmers, who are now on a break for the harvesting season.
The district rally was an excellent day for all involved, this led to many going through to county level at the rally in June. Many members this year have reached high levels of achievement in competitions and represented our area in regional and national Young Farmers' competitions.
This year's social calendar has never stopped. A wide range of events has been attended, from sporting fixtures, national AGM and treasure hunts with barbecues. Lots of charity fund-raising events have been held this year, through duck races, bike rides - not forgetting to mention the numerous dances.
Many members supported the Ryedale Show, through either the Young Farmers stand or entering as a competitor. Well done to all those who received a placing or two. Thank you to all those brave members who sat on the ducking stool. Thanks also to Richard Wood, who kindly transported the ducking stool to and from the showground site. A further thanks also to Russell's farm machinery, for the loan of a tractor for the day.
Good luck to all members awaiting GCSE and A-level results. Have a safe and productive harvest. Don't forget that Kirkbymoorside YFC is hosting a harvest dance on Saturday, September 13, at Westfield Farm, Cropton, from 7.30pm-1am. Pay on the door, £5 before 10pm, £7 thereafter. Hope that a good attendance will be had, as it's a great opportunity for many of us to meet up after the harvest rush.
