Selby

Forward on July 30 were 1,382 head of stock comprising 352 cattle including 220 clean, 132 bulls, 549 sheep including 401 spring lambs, 57 hoggs, 38 ewes, 488 pigs including 66 sows and 2 boars.

Cattle: steers light to 101.5p per kg (88.82p), medum to 129.5p (96.14p), heavy to 127.5p (102.1p), heifers light to 114.5p (98.86p), medium to 130.5p (107.05p), heavy to 122.5p (106.22p), bulls light to 119.5p (98.27p), heavy to 114.5p (98.84p).

Sheep: spring lambs light to 117.4p (114.5p), medium to 122.5p (114.9p), heavy to 108.7p (106.5p), hoggs heavy to 100p (84.1p), ewes to £59 per head (£39.70).

Pigs: porkers to 88.5p per kg (81.85p), cutters to 94.5p (82.42p), baconers to 89.5p (78.87p), overweights to 79.5p (70.56p), sows to 42.56p (40.13p), boars to 28p (27.75p).

Forward on August 4 were 497 head of store stock comprising 119 store cattle, 273 store pigs, 105 store sheep.

Cattle: Lim X cow and BB X heifer calf £800, Lim steers (blue) to £455, Sim steers (blue) to £500, Blonde steers (blue) to £505, AA heifers to £525, Ch heifers to £435, Lim heifers to £455. Stirks: Lim heifers to £224, BB heifers to £270, Sim heifers to £285. Bulls: AA (red) to £455, Blonde (green) to £550, Hfd (red) to £388, Fr (green) to £338.

Pigs: Weaners to £27, 12 weeks to £40, 16 weeks to £51, killing pigs to £65, sow and litter (five) £110, sows to £85.

Sheep: Store lambs to £43.50 (£36.50).

A good show of fur, feather and miscellaneous items was in keen demand.

Malton

A large crowd was in attendance at the special early show and sale of breeding sheep and store lambs with a firm trade in all departments. See James Stephenson column for results.

Also forward on July 1 were 55 store cattle. Cows and calves to £730, Lim bullocks to £690, heifers to £450, Ch bullocks to £490, heifers to £285, Sim bullocks to £568, heifers to £502.

York

Totals for livestock auction and collection centre sales over the past seven days.

Forward were: cattle, 173 live auction and 16 OTMs; sheep, 555 live auction, 124 ewes and 248 deadweight; pigs, 193 live auction, 375 deadweight and 10 sows.

Cattle: young bulls, Cont to 127.5p (ave 101.3p, last week 101.6p), B&W to 98.5p (84.7p, 80.2p); steers, Cont to 104.5p (93.9p, 105.7p), others to 88.5p (83.7p, 80.4p); heifers, Cont to 124.5p (103.6p, 105.2p); deadweight, R Grade 182.0p, B&W 145p-165p.

Sheep: lambs, standard to 131.1p (116.4p, 103.8p), medium to 123.9p (117.6p, 110.1p), heavy to 117.8p (114.3p, 121.1p); ewes and rams to £58, (£38.11, £38.14); deadweight, lambs 225.0p.

Pigs: porkers to 87.5p (75.1p, 74.1p), cutters to 83.0p (75.5p, 72.6p), baconers to 72.5p (71.8p, 50.4), sows to 42.0p (38.0p, 34.1p); deadweight, baconers to 98p-101p, cutters to 110p-112p.
