MALE chauffeurs look out - there's a new girl in town.
Sarah Hill, 31, from Keldholme, near Kirkbymoorside, has set up Elegant Chauffeur Hire - Ryedale's first female chauffeur-driven limo service.
Sarah used to work in the hotel and service industry before taking time out to start a family.
Now with daughters Megan, five, and three-year-old Freya, she wanted to return to a job that would fit around family life with two small children.
"I've always loved cars - I'm a bit of a tomboy I suppose - and I like working with people, so when I thought of the chauffeur idea it all seemed to fit together perfectly," she said. Sarah has completed a course in London to become a member of the British Chauffeur Guild, and she received a grant from The Prince's Trust to help to get the business started.
She believes she has hit upon a niche in the market with the female-driven aspect of the service.
"For a start, women are said to be better drivers - the insurance companies certainly think so.
``Secondly, I think there are a lot of female executives and also tourists who would feel comfortable and safer with a female driver."
