Amotherby

Amotherby Young Farmers will be hosting their annual Ploughing Match at Park Farm, Castle Howard on Sunday, January 29, commencing at 9.30am. For further information please ring Bruce Wilson on 07801 569569.

The club held their annual dinner dance at the Bowling Club, Norton, on January 21. Chairman Bruce Wilson gave speeches, and prizes were given by Andrew Wilson and Simon Smith.

The main prizes of the evening were: Member of the Year: Rachel Brambly. Stock Judging Cup: Jack Lund. Girls Efficiency: Jasmine Walker/Rachel Brambly. Boys Efficiency: Jack Lund. A very enjoyable evening was had by all who attended this sell-out evening. Many thanks go to Rachel Brambly for organising yet another successful dinner dance for the club.

Kirkbymoorside

On December 14, Rachel Wood showed members how to make Christmas puddings and yule logs out of fudge. Members had fun making them. Members then made crackers to put them in. James Dowkes gave the vote of thanks.

On December 21, members went carol singing. They went round some members houses, in outlying villages, in the Kirkbymoorside area. Members finished at Richard and Alison Turnbull's house for refreshments. Paul Simpson thanked Alison for the supper.

On January 4, some members went ice skating at the Ice Factor, York. Everyone had fun, although a few ended up with bumps and bruises. Everyone then got warmed up with a cup of hot chocolate.

Rillington

Rillington's first meeting of the year on January 10, was arranged to sort out all business and other matters. Fifteen young farmers met at the church rooms to help arrange future meetings etc. On that day, several members also played pool and darts against Amotherby Young Farmers at the Fleece. Well done goes to both teams.

On January 17, 16 Rillington members visited Malton pantomime to see Dick Whittington. Everyone enjoyed the show, finishing the evening with drinks at the Coach and Horses, Rillington.

Anybody between the ages of 10 and 26, interested in joining Rillington young farmers, would be extremely welcome. Call Sarah Naylor on 07743 673706.
